Mango Turmeric Smoothie (Vegan + GF)

Living in Florida, it’s always hot. ALWAYS.
Okay, I lied. There are like 2 days during the winter where it's not hot.
The humidity is no laughing matter. You walk outside and you’re sweating like you’ve been sitting in a sauna for twenty minutes. Our “winter” skims the 30s range. Keyword “skims”. It’s truly a horrendous thing, but conditions I’ll take over freezing my piggy toes off up north.
To rival the heat of the Sunshine State of Florida, smoothies are a staple part of my diet. Since my body, in particular, works well with high protein and I try to be as active as possible, I like to always have protein powder in my smoothies. I have tried quite a few different types of vegan protein powder and have come to realize I’m pretty dang picky with texture and flavoring (as well as ingredients). In my extended and trying journey in the search for a beneficial (as in no crappy ingredients list) protein powder worthy of hitting my tastebuds, I have in particular come to fancy Vivo Life Perform Protein Powder (vanilla and salted maca caramel are my favorite flavors).

Another great part of this smoothie is a fresh ingredient in it—one I’m usually not the biggest fan of—turmeric! Here’s a list of its many benefits:

Back to me,
(kidding, kind of) I was NOT a big fan of turmeric when I first tried it. Note that I only tried the ground version, not the fresh kind, meaning the taste wasn’t as….well, turmeric-y. The more I had the ground version, which I put in my Balsamic Tahini dressing which you can find here,
Anyways, the more I had ground turmeric the more I became accustomed to it. Unfortunately, that didn’t include the fresh version. The fresher it is the more benefits and nutrients your body can intake. I thought putting it in a smoothie would help mask the flavor. The flavor was not one to be masked and I ended up providing my coworkers with numerous amounts of smoothies (Best coworker award goes to me!) I had begun to think I would never enjoy having a smoothie with fresh turmeric included in it until I happened to try this recipe out-
Mango Turmeric Smoothie:
1 scoop Vivolife Perform Vanilla Protein Powder
1 cup frozen mango
2 oz. frozen banana
1 tsp fresh turmeric (peeled)
8 oz. water
Combine all ingredients in a blender.
Blend and enjoy the superfood-powered benefits!
